A little life update!

17th November 2022 by Sarah Leave a Comment

Well, it seems I haven’t been around much this year, so here is a little life update. It is not for the want of thinking about it, I can tell you. This year has been a whirlwind of things. Busyness and fun, adventures and experiences. All of which have been far from the computer and my poor, neglected, blog.

Looking confused as to where the time has gone ๐Ÿ˜‰

Back with the travel

With the pandemic and moving house, travel wasn’t a main part in my life for the past few years. This year has been made up of a few trips already, which has been great! Copenhagen was fabulous (other than bringing Covid home as a souvenir!), Gouda was perfect for a little bit of Dutch speaking, Edinburgh was a great break up in Scotland and I am just back from the Isle of Man where I visited for some writing research.

Writing

Which brings me on to writing! While I was not tapping away at the keyboard for content on my blog, I have been writing. I received some pretty hefty commissions in the summer and autumn, which have taken my time up (more on that in the not too distant future). I have loved them and am looking forward to more. I just need to get the balance right with topping up this space too.

Cat Sitting

Some of you might already know that I am also a cat sitter. I started my business properly at the start of the year and it took off quickly. I have learnt some very important lessons along the way (don’t take as many on as other sitters say is possible!) and am reviewing things for the new year so I have some more weekends to myself. Something I have missed for travel and local adventures.

Dutch

Sadly, my Dutch conversation teacher had to stop teaching, which has been a bit of a setback in my learning. It is understandable that he had his main job to attend to, but I do miss my chats with him. They were fun and I found I would learn better that way. If you know of any native Dutch speakers in the Netherlands looking to chat online with someone a bit crazy (for pay!) let me know! I’d love to get back on it again as I am due to be in my beloved Rotterdam again next May!!

So yeah…

While that is just a snapshot of the things that have kept me away from the blog, I just wanted to let you know that I still love it around here and want to write more. Life sometimes gets in the way, but I am going to be back for more. Keep your eyes peeled ๐Ÿ˜€

How are you? How has your year been? Let me know in the comments ๐Ÿ˜€

Hello wanderer!

Manchester based outdoor and travel writer UK

Iโ€™m a writer and urban explorer whoโ€™s written for Lonely Planet (England and Experience England). The Urban Wanderer is where I share slow travel, city walks, food, cats, and the everyday adventures found close to home. I believe the outdoors isnโ€™t only in the countryside โ€” itโ€™s in the streets, parks, corners and communities we live in.

Come wander with me, one small discovery at a time.
