I have been umming and ahhing about adding another stream to the blog. I do a lot more other than outdoor and travel stuff and wanted somewhere to share about it. Which is where this post “At home with The Urban Wanderer” comes into play. A way of dipping my toe into the water to see how it feels kind of post. I have honestly no idea whether it will fit here or whether you, my reader, will even care. So your feedback is completely welcome.
With the precursor out-of-the-way, let me explain a bit more.
At home with The Urban Wanderer
If you follow me on Instagram stories, you will know that my life is pretty eclectic. I get up to all sorts of things including DIY, gardening, craft and food. My past blogging life included my food blog, which I admit has been pretty stagnant for the past few years since The Urban Wanderer was born, meaning that my food photos and recipes don’t always have a home.
I have been wondering whether it was time to start a home and lifestyle blog in addition to this one or whether I might be able to add an additional strand (or five) to what I share here. And this is where you come in. OK, so you didn’t expect to be drawn into this, but as you’re here I ‘m going to take advantage of the fact.
Would you like to see different things on this blog in specific sections?
Like ‘home’, ‘lifestyle’, ‘gardening’ etc?
OR
Just an ‘At Home’ section? Maybe “Swiss Army Sarah”? (see below)
OR
None of this other stuff…leave it as outdoor and travel?
Swiss Army Sarah
Because of my many skills/abilities/willingness to give everything a try, my friend Meriel at work gave me the name “Swiss Army Sarah”. I have considered starting the ‘other blog’ with this title, but might just use it here for the everything else kind of posts. A bit more entertaining that ‘At Home’ perhaps?
You see, I feel like some months I just don’t have the outdoor, travel and experiences to share as I am currently doing up our house. Which, you probably know takes time. Don’t get me wrong, I still get out for my reverse commute, trips to the parks and outdoor time, but just nothing I haven’t really already posted about before.
Lifestyle, outdoors and travel
Although I feel a little conflicted as to whether this will all work out in one blog, I do feel that they pull together. Well, they must do as I live this crazy ol’ combination of a life. So in theory, it would all fit in very well as I work through my days one project (that’s a lie! Several projects) at a time between work, holidays, trips and daily things like cooking, craft and fitness. Not forgetting cats – surely they should have a presence here?
Trying new things
This year, I have decided to try even more new things (like iFly) and would love to have a place to document them and even inspire you to do the same. Perhaps we could have monthly challenges we all work on? I don’t know, I’m just typing my stream of thoughts now.
Saying all that, since writing my post about “Things I want to do in 2019” I have already added a plethora of other things to that list! I think it would be fun to share the ups and downs of learning new things as well as encourage others to enjoy being beginners at something again, and again, and again!
Giving it a go
So on the theme of trying new things, I am going to give the lifestyle section a go. Unless, of course, you all comment with a resounding “NOOOOOOO!!” in the comments below. In which case, I might reconsider and work out something else instead. I don’t know how long I will try it for, but it is starting today.
Please do give me some comments, feedback and ideas of the section it could come under so that I can make things as clean as possible.
As of today, which is my Finish Stuff Friday (post to follow soon in the new section!), there will be a trail strand on the blog containing all sorts of home, craft, DIY, decor, gardening and whatever else comes to mind. I’d love for you to check them out and let me know your thoughts.
For now though, welcome to At Home with The Urban Wanderer!
…and make sure you answer the pink questions so that I can get going with the rejig! Cheers, m’dears!
