Things I’d like to do in 2019

7th January 2019 by Sarah Leave a Comment

I have seen quite a few posts with lists of activities, goals and resolutions which bloggers are aiming for in 2019. I thought I might jump on that wagon, but with something a little simpler. A “things I’d like to do in 2019” post instead. It won’t be full of marathon challenges, expensive or extreme experiences, but some simple things I’m planning on doing or enjoying. Or just simply continuing.

So here goes, here are some things I’d like to do in 2019.

Last-minute gift guide for the eco minded (10)

Learn more about my local history

Over the years I have been learning more and more about the part of Manchester where I live. It might not be the most salubrious of places now, but it played a huge role in aeronautics. Oh and space travel, believe it or not! As someone who didn’t get on with history in my younger days, I have developed a thirst for it now. So much so, I have even considered writing a book on my area at some point! (not on my list for this year!)

Become a mentor for a young person

This is kind of a cheats one as I already made a start at making this a reality at the end of last year. I’m adding it as a kind of reminder to get it all boxed off and on the go.

I think there is a great importance in supporting young people who might not necessarily have the opportunities we have had. And I have some spare time which I would love to share. Which is why I am going to be one of the Million Mentors for Manchester.

Immerse myself further into learning Dutch

I have been learning Dutch for some time now, but would like to get better at it. My phone and iPad are in Dutch and I listen occasionally to Dutch radio, but I would like to improve a bit more. Perhaps by finding someone to speak with or other ways to learn. This part I am not sure about, but I know I’ll speak it more when we visit Utrecht later this year.

Spend time with old friends

Time certainly flies, which can often mean that I don’t get around to seeing some of the friends I’ve been meaning to catch up with. I spent plenty of time with friends this last year, but want to pick up with some I haven’t seen. It might be as simple as a phone call or lunch, but it is on my definite list.

Continue making progress with my fitness

I have really enjoyed getting back to the gym and increasing my fitness and muscle condition last year and am looking forward to carrying it on into this year. It really had helped the niggly pains to disappear by helping my core support my body. Along with this, I am relearning to do the splits too – something which was super easy when I was a gymnast.

Do some more renovation on the house

For those of you following my Instagram account, you will know that we have been DIY renovating our bathroom. It is almost done and my plan is to get the house ship-shape this year. There isn’t a huge amount to do, but I do need to focus to get it done. This is the year and although it might impact on some of my outdoorsey days, I know I will still be out there. Even if they are not necessarily blog-worthy!

This one is kind of a continuation of my #FinishStuffFriday where i spend the time to get through the tasks which get bypassed over the years. The idea is to clear some space for fun at the weekend and to lift that weight of unfinished tasks and jobs. There is a post in the making about it all, so I won’t get into it too much here.

There are, of course, plenty of other things I’d like to do this year, but these are a great start. My bucket list is ever-growing and I have lots of ideas for trips, but the “big” things are these. I know it is going to be an exciting year and I’d love to hear some of the things you’d like to do in 2019 too.

Pop them in the comments so I can catch up with you (and maybe give you that little bit of accountability!)

Here’s to 2019 and all the experiences we’ll create this year!
