It is that time again where I share with you the things that I am currently loving. And in true fashion it comes with a rubbish flat lay (I only do it so you see the stuff!) and my random opinions on stuff!
This month is yet another mixed bag, but I hope you enjoy it and let me know whether you love any too! What are you currently loving?

I took this picture with no pants on! LOL
Currently Loving May 2018
As with my currently loving post from last month, I’ll be sticking with some themes to keep things tidy and also to remind me about the things I’m considering for the next post. We all need a bit of order in the chaos, right? (only a bit though, not too much!)
App: Instagram
OK, so it might not be the most innovative app to share. You’re probably already on it and using it (in which case, I hope you’re following me!) However, the reason that I am sharing it is because I find it to be far more than just a photo sharing kind of social network. I have made some incredible friends through it – people who I wouldn’t have met otherwise, even though we live in the same city. People from around the world that I one day plan to visit and others that are there for a good old giggle. I follow their journey through life and they follow me. I am sharing it as I encourage you to take the time to make a connection with the people as well as the pictures.
Product: Kathmandu Transfer Pack
If you follow me on Twitter, you are more than likely to know about the fun and banter I am having with my friends about this amazing pack! Not only is it perfectly formed for my reverse commute, but it has the set up for easy foreign travel too. No, I haven’t written the reviews yet, but they are coming. First I want to try it out on my upcoming trip to Lodz and Amsterdam so that I can give it the air travel test.
So far, the only thing I can find wrong with it is that it doesn’t have a specific pocket for my bird feed. And every commuter/traveller needs that, don’t they? Kathmandu have passed it to the design team, so keep your eyes peeled for the Kathmandu Bird Feed add-on…
Food/Drink: Joe’s Tea Co Turmeric and Ginger Tea
The Feisty Turmeric Guru tea has received a mixed review from the Outdoor Bloggers who received it in the goody bags at the recent camp. I personally found it to be delicious, but I am already a fan of Indian style tea and love the savoury flavour of turmeric. I liked mine with a little dab of soya milk as I find it helps to suspend the spice particles better and create a smooth drink. The nice thing about these bags is that it saves on the grating and mixing when you just need that uplifting brew! Have you tried turmeric tea before? Do you fancy it?
People/Person: Outdoor Bloggers
Yeah, so I had Outdoor Bloggers last month as well. So what? It’s my blog and I can be currently loving the same people month on month. Well, OK, so there is a bit of a different reason that they are in here. I went up to north Yorkshire recently for the Outdoor Bloggers camp and came back with more than just pink cheeks from the sunshine and fire. I came back with some new friends.
Music/Audio: Michael Thomas Method: Dutch
I had to change this one as my music changes so often and there hasn’t been one specific kind this month. Well, we did crack out the Best of 60s Summer CD for the car because of the lovely weather. But, the audio that I have been listening to most is the Michael Thomas Method for Dutch. I have it downloaded into my Audible and is the perfect backdrop to my walk to meet Jit in the evening. And with heading to Amsterdam soon, it is a great way to polish up my Dutch skills.
Clothing: Kuhl Splash Metro
My travel and lifestyle can have me wandering the city streets one moment and then scrambling up a cliff the next, so I need something that fits the bill – and more importantly, fits me! I discovered Kuhl when they got in contact about doing a review on some of their kit and instantly fell in love with the blended outdoor/travel style. I have been trying out the Kuhl Splash Metro for the past few days in advance of our trip and I really like them. They are convertible from long to crop trousers, look smart enough for a meeting, yet are mobile enough for walking and ease of movement. I am looking forward to giving them a jolly good go on my trip to Poland and the Netherlands and will be sure to pop a review up for you.
Book: Lonely Planet Poland
Despite Lodz being Poland’s third largest city, there isn’t much about it in many of the books, let alone a book of its own. Being a total travel book geek, I decided to splash out on a book about Poland as a whole as this will be the third city we visit over there and I know that we will return. Poland is such a lovely country, so even reading about it and planning future trips is exciting. This one ticked the boxes and also had a decent section for Lodz, so I’ll be enjoying that on my flight.
Destination: Dunham Massey
You might think that with having a foreign trip on the horizon, putting a local destination as my currently loving is a bit odd. But, let me explain. Of course we love going to new far away places, who doesn’t? But realistically, we do spend more of our time in and around Manchester. So making time to enjoy the fantastic places local to you, like Dunham Massey for us, is key to having some fin adventures between holidays. And besides, we’re National Trust Members and love to use our membership for cheap days out. If you can get up to Cheshire soon, you should really make a visit to Dunham while the spring flowers are in bloom. It is looking stunning at the moment.
Tech: Varta Power Bank
As a tech lover with a passion for going on long adventures, one of the key things that I must have is an external battery. I have had this Varta power bank one since the Outdoor Bloggers camp this year and it has been on every single trip with me. I really like that it is flat, I can slip it in the bladder pouch of my bag and trail the cable through the tube openings so that I can still use my phone.
Looking at my currently loving items now, there is certainly a flavour of adventure and travel this month. Coupled with friendship – which goes hand in hand with adventure. It is so much better shared, whether before via twitter chats, during with someone or after while sharing over on Instagram.
I have to say that one of the things that I am always currently loving is the internet and how incredible it has been for me to make friends all over the UK and abroad. It makes the huge world that little bit smaller and more connected and helps with trip planning, inspiration and more.
But enough of me getting all soppy over tech! That is the end of my currently loving post for May 2018.
Now tell me; are you currently loving any of the same things? What is getting you going at the moment?
Do you have any favourite travel kit you’d like to recommend – I’m always on the lookout!
Let me know in the comments.
