After recovering from my cold I was really pleased to be heading up to Croston in Lancashire for the Outdoor Bloggers weekend with Varta Consumer Electronics. It was held at the Royal Umpire Campsite and we were joined by Sprectrum Brands showcasing some of the amazing companies that they work with (that we would also find useful too)
Unfortunately, since I have come home, my cold has made a reappearance and I ended up skipping my evening walk last night and this morning! Which for me is pretty unthinkable! I must be poorly. But in order to share some of the fun that was had here is a peek!
A peek at what went on!
I did want to give you a taste of the weekend though, so I thought that a sneak preview would whet your appetite for more when my energy and ability to string together better descriptions comes back. I’ll then be doing a bit of an un-bagging of the abundance of goodies that we explored and got to bring home, so keep your eyes peeled for that too. (Yes, I really am too poorly to un-bag the goodies!)
Oh yeah and I was delighted to find out that the Spectrum team are based in one of the mills in Failsworth (literally around the corner from me!) in the old Russell Hobbs Mill! Chuffed!
Anyway, here is the sneak peek of the outdoor bloggers weekend with Varta!
Food!
As you know, I am a bit of a foodie (blogging over at Susty Meals) so I was pleased that there were some cooking brands there too – and veggie food of course! The Spectrum team were amazing (as was the chef they brought along with them!) feeding us for three meals and catering for my veggie needs. The bean stew was just what I needed after trudging though the mud and setting up camp.
Filming
You will notice through the photos that there was filming going on. This was for Spectrum to showcase real opinions of the products and to use in their marketing materials. To be honest, when you’re with a bunch of new friends, you don’t even notice the camera at all. Even when you are the focus of it!

A swift (picture) run through
So as not to eat into my proper post and to give it all away, here are a few snaps to give you the gist of what went on…
We had a visit and talk from the Mountain Rescue which was fascinating. To be honest, I never really knew that much about them and when you learn that 80% of their funding comes from people like you and me, that they are all volunteers and they buy their own kit, you really do have an even higher regard for them! (More about that in a specific post, I reckon!)
We had a demonstration (as much as possible in the rain!) of the Armor All products for cars. Being that I am getting a new (to me) car in the next week or so, I am so excited to try them out. I think the wipes will be valuable for when we picnic in the car.
And last but not least, I got to geek out over powerbanks! I love these things and have at least one on me at all times – you just never know when you or a friend will need charge. Here’s to charging on the move! Varta really are on the ball with theirs though, future proofing so you don’t have to upgrade quickly which is great in my book as a tech and gadget geek.
So there you have it. Before I get even slower and need a nap to recover, that is a quick sneak peek of the outdoor bloggers weekend with Varta. The real post will come later this week – I promise! Plus the un-bagging video too, so bear with me.
Here’s to me recovering and getting a real post out for you. In the meantime, remember to check out my outdoor blogger interview series – tomorrow is with Zoe from Splodz Blogz.
Off to rest!
Do you use Varta products? How about Armor All for your car?
