About and Contact

Urban wanderer, creative explorer, passionate walker,
and lover of community.

I’ve always been drawn to the in-between spaces — the overlooked corners, the backstreets, the places that quietly tell stories. My mission is to help shift perspectives on what the outdoors can mean when 55.91 million of us live and work in urban spaces across the UK.

I’m not here to stop anyone enjoying the countryside (I love a good hill walk too), but I am here to help you fall in love with what’s right on your doorstep — the hidden rivers, patches of green, and fascinating layers of city life that often go unnoticed.

I’m a writer, photographer, and storyteller, and I’ve written for Lonely Planet, contributing to both England (Blue Spine) and Experience England. This blog is where I share my own creative explorations — through travel, food, cats, exploring, urban nature, and the everyday moments that make up my patchwork life.

I started The Urban Wanderer in 2016 after hanging up my apron as a food blogger. My interest in food never went away — it just expanded into a wider curiosity about places and people. Now, I use walking, photography, and stories to connect with the heart of where I live and travel.

I wander the streets where people live, peek into the cracks of cities and towns, meet the people who make them thrive, and uncover the character of a place one step at a time.

Don’t get me wrong — I love a countryside ramble as much as anyone. But most of my life happens in cities, and that’s where I find my inspiration. I’d rather make the most of where I am than wish I were somewhere else.

Recently, I’ve started weaving in more of the other things that make up my life — my cats, crochet, books, and everyday routines. Because to me, walking, creativity, travel, food, and life at home all belong together.

❤️ How I Work

I love working with people and organisations who share a genuine care for community, creativity, and curiosity. I partner with those who:

  • Create products or services that genuinely add value to life and exploration

  • Make things built to last and designed to be used, not replaced

  • Bring joy, knowledge, or discovery into everyday life

  • Support local communities and tread lightly on the planet

I’m always open to writing, photography, and storytelling collaborations — whether it’s about walking, exploring, budget-friendly travel, wellbeing, or creative living.

If that sounds like you, keep reading 👇

💌 Contact

If you’d like to discuss working together — or simply want to say hello — I’d love to hear from you.

I work best with people and brands whose values align with my own: honest, sustainable, human-focused, and curious. I don’t accept every partnership that comes along (freebies don’t pay the bills!), but I do welcome meaningful collaborations that make sense for both of us.

I’m open to exchanging content for products or experiences if they’re something I’d be buying anyway, and if we can create genuine value together.

Use the contact form below or email me directly to start the conversation.

Let’s make something thoughtful, useful, and human.

Hello wanderer!

Manchester based outdoor and travel writer UK

I’m a writer and urban explorer who’s written for Lonely Planet (England and Experience England). The Urban Wanderer is where I share slow travel, city walks, food, cats, and the everyday adventures found close to home. I believe the outdoors isn’t only in the countryside — it’s in the streets, parks, corners and communities we live in.

Come wander with me, one small discovery at a time.
