If you are looking for some weekend out and about ideas, here are some ideas to get you going for enjoying the great outdoors no matter what the weather or your budget!
Short and Sweet in Manchester – Alexandra Park
For something for all the family, easy to get to and quick to do, why not check out the refurbished Alexandra Park in Moss Side. There is plenty to do for the whole family with play areas, loads of grassy spaces for playing with balls and perfect for a walk with the dog. It is really easy to get to by bus from the city centre or you could walk there if you fancy doing that little bit more.
Remember to wrap up warm now though and maybe take a brolly this weekend!
Check out my visit from last year!
National Trust – Dunham Massey
Under an hour from Manchester and filled with things to do, why not spend the day exploring the grounds of Dunham Massey or venturing outside to see the village and the canals. If you’re a National Trust Member, parking is free (otherwise I think it is £6) but you get access to a lot of lovely outdoor space and deer too. Great for all the family, but dogs do need to be kept on leads in the grounds (there is a doggy play area near the picnic area though for some running around!)

A bit of history walking the walls in Chester
If you’re looking for a bit more history (and the opportunity for some indoor exploring as well, Chester is a great place for a day out. Walk the walls and discover the history of the city. Then you can take in the sights and sounds of the museums, the Rows and the arcade if you’re looking for a little bit of shelter on your walk. Remember to try the doughnuts at the tiny stand beneath the clock tower – yum!
