I’m all for trying new things on the blog so before the month is out, here are my November Favourites. The things that I am currently loving to help keep me going through the colder Autumn months.
I know that a lot of people have been posting November favourites and currently loving posts on their blogs. It seems like a fun way to get to know people better ant to also get some hints and tips – especially from my favourite bloggers! This month I have been away on holiday for a bit and catching up so things might be random!
Anyway, without further ado, here are my November favourites for your delectation!
I’m currently loving in November
With the colder days rolling in (and out! Depending on where you live!) I have found that it has been time to dig out the winter goodies to chuck into my rucksack so that I’m ready for every eventual weather forecast possible. It’s horrible when you get drenched or frozen through just because you forgot your waterproofs or gloves!
Sealskinz Dragoneye Gloves
I have a tendency to get white finger in the colder months so having some good waterproof and warm gloves are a must for me! After years of trying all kinds of gloves, I finally came across Sealskinz in an outdoors shop in Chester. I fell in love! Not only are they nice and toasty, they are waterproof and have e-tips meaning that I can still use my phone and snap some pictures. It’s not the most accurate, but it is better than nothing!
These are in my November Favourites as the weather has been getting much colder for my morning miles that I when I get home it takes me ages to thaw and be able to type – not good! Although I don’t need them every day yet, they are still tucked safely into my rucksack for when the time comes. They might seem a bit pricey for gloves, but when they prevent you from getting weird zombie hands they are worth their weight in gold!
Craghoppers Lightweight Fleece
When I travel I tend to take my hiking gear, even if I’m on a city break because it is lightweight, easy to dry and most importantly comfortable. I took my Craghoppers lightweight fleece with me on my trip to California this month and wore it almost every day. The things that I love about it are the elasticated wrists to keep the wind out, the long neck zip which makes it ever so easy to get on and off and the handy chest pocket for keys or even my phone (it’s a great look, but who cares!)
Vaseline – Aloe
With all my time out and about I find that my poor little lips take the brunt of it and end up really chapped and sore. I have used so many different types of balm and always end up coming back to good old Vaseline. I find that it kind of gives my lips a protective barrier that lasts for hours rather than minutes meaning that I don’t have to de-glove often to reapply. Simple, yet effective and something I’ll always have as a monthly favourite no matter which season.
Trail Magazine
I am not (yet!) a subscriber to Trail magazine, but I do love to treat myself to it from time to time (not only because the Editor, Simon Ingram, is a primary school friend!) as it is screen free and full of amazing photos, routes and kit. This issue, if you haven’t already got it, is about getting outside and embracing the darkness. And getting out between dawn and dusk to make the most of your hiking time.
Meridian Peanut Butter
Our week day breakfasts are homemade high protein smoothies and my favourite ingredient has to be Meridian Peanut Butter as it is palm free and absolutely delicious! We go through it like there is no tomorrow – hence the HUGE tub – even though we only have 2 tablespoons per smoothie each day (OK, so that’s quite a lot when you include two people for each of those days.) With the colder days coming in we’re also moving towards warmer smoothies like my Coffee Breakfast Smoothie rather than the nice ice cold ones which are not so nice after a four mile freezing cold early morning walk!
I am an absolute sucker for Instagram as it equally good for planning trips, linking up with other bloggers and social media buffs as well as there being an abundance of cats for me to look at and people to take part in my Weekly Photowalk Challenge (check out this week’s here!)
This last weekend (it was a weekend challenge because I was late posting it) was so much fun and lots of people have been getting involved – check out the tag #TUWPhotowalk to see the entries for feet going on an adventure! It is a great way to help encourage you to get outside on these darker days, to take an adventure and to grab a snap or two linking to the theme while you’re at it. Then you can share it with other people taking part too. It is also a fun way to discover different things about where you live too – while you hunt for something to match the theme!
Come and find me on Instagram!
